Pitchers & Catchers: Day 5 From Port Charlotte

More fans there today than I have ever seen for Pitchers & Catchers, and nice to see a large number of kids.
Juan Cruz made his first appearance after getting past the visa problems, and threw a bullpen session that was rated "impressive" by a member of the Rays' staff.  All players were friendly with the fans and hung around to sign autographs and take pictures.  Player/coach meetings after the workouts today, so I would imagine they are going to trim down the numbers this coming week.

Juan Cruz throwing his bullpen session...

then taking infield grounders.

Hickey addressing the pitchers.

Three pitchers who can impact the present and future.

Bootcheck talking grips with Jake.

JP really wants to push up his return timetable.

Peralta & the pitchers worked on pickoffs today.

Price did a great deal of encouraging today with his group.

Davey said he is planning a shave soon...

Chirinos seems to have the bat, now needs a position.

As a precaution for those wanting action, the pictures after the jump are all of players/coaches & fans.

Bobby loves the kids, and was cooking a feast for some guys tonight!

Shields has seemed in good spirits this week, and been a solid leader in drills.

Farnsworth

You're welcome Jeff.

Probably should have expected the first Damon jersey I have seen would be on an attractive blonde.

Adam Russell thanked this guy for his service.

Sonny

Archer seems to be a good kid, and has the skills to be around for a long time.

Price signed for all the kids first (even Red Sox) then the adults.

Hayhurst and the Garfoose are pretty popular.  Interesting guy.

Niemann with some normal-sized fans.

The Sunday crowd was far above any other this week.

As the Dylan song goes, "Times they are a changing..."
